Real Life Job
This Monday I will embark on a historic journey to Layton, Utah to start my orientation in becoming a manager at Old Navy. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I look forward to learning lots of new things, meeting lots of new people, and succeeding at whatever tasks are put in my way. Wish me luck.

Closure
Graduating in December does not provide graduates with much closure. I have not worn the cap and gown so I sorta feel like a part of me is still in school. The only real closure I have had is cleaning out my locker. It was a bit sad for me to clean out all my stuff. I have had some good times with the track team and it was hard letting it go for real. I think that short experience helped me have the closure I needed to move on to "real life".

Flower or Gardener?
Yesterday I saw a TV show that I thought was pretty insightful and applied to a relationship situation I and a friend are facing. Noah, my friend, and I both feel that we do most of the work in initiating, cultivating, and caring for our relationships with our respective girlfriends. We often feel a bit worn out by this fact and feel that we should be receiving more "love" or "care" in return for our work.
This is where the TV show comes into play. The main story line was that in most relationships there is a flower and a gardener. The gardener does the caring and the flower receives the care. In most relationships there are times when these roles are reversed, but there is usually an individual that fits one role more than another. I came to the conclusion that I am a gardener. The next question that came to my mind is if I could live being a gardener or not. And here is my conclusion: Yes. I believe that I can be a great gardener. And with a beautiful flower (Jessie) I can be a real happy gardener, because gardeners receive joy from the beauty of their work, and Jessie is a beautiful piece of work. I will still often need to play the role of the flower, but when I do, I will do my best in being the most handsome and grateful flower that I can.
Dr. Phil doesn't have nothing on me!

Shopping
I am a terrible shopper. First, I have no patience for it. Second, it is hard to find the things that I like and that are not terribly expensive. Third, it is hard to find things that fit properly on a person 6'4", 230 pounds, and a wingspan as long as the great wall of China. I ended up shopping online. I hope everything arrives correctly and that I don't have to send anything back, because that just may be the end of me.
Christmas 2006
It was great being with all my family this year in Georgia for Christmas. It was a bit unusual of a Christmas for me because it was fairly warm outside. I sometimes couldn't decide if I should be excited for Christmas or for Summer to come. No matter the weather it was great watching the nieces and nephews being excited for Santa and all of the festivities. It was hard not to be excited with them.
I also got to spend some "snow" days with Jessie and her family in Denver, Colorado. We were basically snowed in with everyone either sick with the flu or sick with a cold so it wasn't the most exciting or adventurous of times, but it was still nice to be with Jessie and meet her family.
It is always hard for me to see the Christmas season end and a new year begin. I am excited for the new opportunities 2007 will bring, but I had a great 2006 with many wonderful times and may wonderful things learned and experienced. Hopefully I can take 2006 and build on it for an even better 2007.

Bowl Season
It has been a good year for me this Bowl season. I can't say my teams all won but a good majority of them did. BYU spanked Oregon. The Mountain West conference won most of their bowls. Boise State won a thriller in the Fiesta Bowl to represent the west. Michigan was the only tough loss. A game in which they played mediocre and USC played well. I hope the championship game of Florida and Ohio State turns out exciting this Monday.
